We asked the creative team to design a book for a special mom in their lives. On Monday, we shared Kristie's book for her niece who just became a new mom. Yesterday, we shared Samantha's book for Grandma (her Mom). Today we celebrate a very special mom with a wonderful story about who she chose for her scrapbook.
From Kelly Schirmer: "The woman I picked was, wellll, ummmmm, me! Let me explain! When I first got the project I thought "Oh dear." and felt what I call "the twinge." My dad died when I was 4 and my mother died when I was 18 (both from illness). They did have me as "older" parents but they still both died only in their 50's-60's which is young. Most people don't even know this about me, because I don't bring it up unless directly asked. Every year at school I would feel the "twinge" around Father's Day because of the projects. My teachers were always sympathetic and I joyfully would celebrate my 2 brothers-in-law, my uncles, etc...but I would get that twinge. So after my mother died, I carried on and celebrated my wonderful sisters (who are 17 and 24 years older than me!!), and now my wonderful mother-in-law...but still felt, yep, the twinge.
And THEN I became a mother...and the twinge is so tiny now that Mother's Day is one of the best days of the year for me! And so that is why I celebrated myself! No more twinge, and it was sooo much fun to put this together! The only twinge that came up was that there aren't that many pictures of the girls and just me together because I am the one behind the camera. Jason (Kelly's husband) took note of this and said he will work on taking more pictures, hee!"
Kelly painted the edges of her book with Crackle Paint in Antique Linen. She used October Afternoon "Fly a Kite" and "Thrift Shop" decorative papers. She used an amazing assortment of Pink Persimmon stamps in her book as well!
Thank you Kelly, for sharing your touching story, and for sharing your beautiful girls with us in your scrapbook.
Happy Mother's Day to ALL the Moms! Whether you are celebrating your mom, a special friend, or even yourself, may you have a joyous day filled with love from your family and friends.
