A Quick Tutorial on the Fun Features of the Small and Large Banner Sets by Linda Beeson
If you want to know what one of the “HOT” scrapbook accents
are for today, it is banners. Big
one, tiny ones, colored ones, any kind.
The really good news is that Pink Persimmon has three stamp
sets that feature banners in a variety of sizes (Sneak Peek Hint: More Banners are coming soon!). And to make that thought even better, two of the sets allow
you to stamp an outline for each banner and then you can stamp a pattern into
that outline.
I wanted to use one of the banner stamp sets on a “boy”
related layout and I wanted to give it a little bit of a different twist so my
banners look a little more like flags.
Here is my finished layout. (Click on any image to view larger)
What I would like to do is give you a little step-by-step on
creating the banner with these stamps.

The first step that I used was to stamp the outline stamp
with a Versafine stamp pad on plain white cardstock. I am using the large banner set.

Next I took the pattern designed banners and stamped them
“inside” the outline stamp. Here
is where the fun comes in because there are several patterns in each set and
you can stamp those patterns in any color you want. So, you can stamp them all
in one color or make them fit with the color scheme you are using. I stamped my patterns in blue and green
so they matched my photos. In my
little photo, you can see I stamped the large banners and I also stamped some
of the little banners so you could see the size difference.

Here is one of the big advantages
to these stamps being clear. You
place the clear stamps on an acrylic block and that allows you to get the
placement correct when stamping the pattern into the outline stamp. I am also showing you the colors I used
for my banners and I like to cut the stamped banners out with zig zag scissors
because that matches the outline of the stamps.

Another advantage to these stamp
sets is you can stamp the outline on any patterned or solid paper you want letting
you match what you are working with.
And, still another option is to stamp the pattern only, without the
outline stamp. I cut both of these
examples with straight scissors to show how nice they look that way too.

Here is a close-up of my
banners. The cardstock for my
layout is new from Core’dinations Core Impressions collection. The embossed
design is in the cardstock and all I needed to do was slightly sand it to
expose the embossing. I also used
a Fiskars wave border punch to accent the stamped banners.

Another little stamped accent on
my layout is this journaling circle.
This is the Dutch Circle Journal by Pink Persimmon and it has the dotted lines on the
stamp to give you a place to write journaling if you want. I used this to hold
my title and I stamped it in the same green that I used in my banner.
These stamp sets really have a
whole lot of versatility to them.
I love stamps that can be used a number of ways on a number of projects.
Extra Note: Seems that we are not the only ones who love banners! Head on over to Scrapstreet Magazine to see a card made by Julie Detlef using the small banner stamp set.
