I finally had some time to decorate my mantle for Halloween! I made a new banner this year with the Big Banner with Rosettes stamp set. A lot of cutting, but I think it came out really cute!
The banner says "A Spooky Halloween". I used Tim Holtz Gungeboard Letters for the letters on each banner and painted them with the Plaid Extreme Glitter black paint. I love how this paint gives the look of glitter without the mess.
What I did discover about the Extreme Glitter Paint is that it works best on fairly flat surfaces. The grunge board has a texture, and that worked fine, but if you notice my large black tree, I made that this year also (that was a big paper mache mess!) and tried painting the whole tree with the Extreme Glitter, but it just didn't have the same effect. It just looked shiny, which I didn't like. So, three tubes of black glitter later, I covered the whole tree. I need to seal it with something to hold the glitter in place till next year, any suggestions?
My little Lottie Witch (from our Lottie Doll stamp set) also made an appearance this year. I turned her into a witch last year. Stamped her on muslin and made a little doll. If you want to see some better pictures of her, you can see this blog post here.
I just love these new little mini clothespins! (They will be available in our online store on Tues., Nov. 2nd) I used those to attach each banner to the ribbon. What I love about this is that I can remove all the clothespins, stack up the banner, roll up the ribbon and be ready for next year. In the meantime, I can use the same clothespins for my Holiday banner.
I wish I could say I made that cute little paper mache cat, but that is from an amazing folk artist named Johanna Parker. Visit her website and see her original designs (she sells them on Ebay) or where you can purchase some of her reproductions.

Wow! My favorite is the look of the rosettes on the banner! CUTE! And isn't that glitter paint neat?
