Amy Lynn Lassiter made this beautiful card and shares with us how she made that very fun crinkled pink background behind the Mini Bingo Card stamp image.
Creating great background texture with tissue, mist, and decoupage medium.
Step 1. Use the vintage bingo card stamp, with a very light application of ink, to create a background on the outside of the card.
Step 2. Place tissue paper (1/2 a sheet is plenty, one ply) on a kraft mat or other surface you can get messy. Spray with mist in two similar colors all over tissue. I used Tattered Angels in taffy, and Perfect Pearls in iridescent red (pink). Make sure the tissue is very damp with mist.
Step 3. Prepare the surface (in this case, a card) my covering with a liberal layer of decoupage glue.
Step 4. Tear misted tissue into strips, and adhere by pinching it. Cover entire surface with a single layer of tissue. If tissue becomes dry and sticky, add more decoupage glue over the top to make it easier to spread. When the entire layer is applied, you could add a few more sprays of mist, if desired.
Step 5. This is what the completed tissue technique will look like! It is pretty wet, so it will take a while to dry naturally, or you can speed up the process with a heat gun.
I like to sew over the top of the dry tissue, for even more texture. Try using dress patterns for a unique look, as well. I added plenty of layers over the top, and they stuck well, using just tape runner adhesive.
