Thinking of You - Card Tutorial

Ronda Palazzari designed this beautiful card with the Perfumery Stamp set.  Don't you love the background with the vintage text?  Ronda was kind enough to send us a tutorial on how she made the entire card. 

Supplies:

• 2 coordinating pieces of Patterned Paper
• Cardstock
• Watercolor paper
• Grungepaper by Tim Holtz
• Antiquated Collection Perfumery Stamp Set
• Sentiment stamp set
• Maya Road Paper roses (or small flowers)
• Maya Road Cording (or baker’s twine)
• Permanent (waterproof) black ink
• Spray inks
• Watercolors Crayons or Markers
• 3-d adhesive

1. Stamp the larger perfume bottle from Antiquated Collection twice onto the grungepaper using permanent ink.  Trim off the crown and color the bottle of one of the images using watercolor crayons, watercolors, or markers.  Cut out the label from the other image and color it in. 

2.  Trim a piece of Watercolor paper to 3.5” x 4.75”.  Using the Crab Apple Text stamp (from the Perfumery Set), stamp the text using a masking technique over the entire background in a random pattern.  (Use a post-it or other thin piece of paper to mask off the larger title of the stamp). Spray with coordinating spray inks rubbing off some of the image to give it a worn, tattered look.

3.  Add your first patterned paper (5.25” x 4”) to a 5.5” x 4.25” piece of cardstock.  Then layer the watercolor paper on top of the patterned paper.  Next add your 2.75” x 4” patterned on top of the watercolor paper.  You can stitch around some of the papers.

4. Add the paper flowers to the top patterned paper and glue down the perfume bottle.  Add some 3-d adhesive to the back of the label and add it to the perfume bottle to give it some dimension.  Tie your cording into a bow and add to the perfume bottle.  Add your sentiment to the upper right corner.

Sweet Springtime Card

Don't you just love Melissa Phillip's amazing style?  She made the most beautiful cards for us with the new Antiquated Collection stamps.  This card uses the Misses' Aprons stamp, and it just makes me think of Spring.  The punch of color from the flower is just the right touch, but it doesn't overpower the card at all.

Love this corset, but so glad I don't have to wear one!

Melissa Phillips used the Dr. Warner's Corsets stamp set to make this card for us. 

The corset stamp looks so good when it is cut out and layered on top of the card.  Just stamp twice, then color and cut one of the corsets and adhere with pop-dots or other type of foam adhesive on top of the first stamp.

Thank You Cards

Everyone needs thank you cards after the holidays, and we have a couple of birthdays in our house during January, so even MORE thank you cards are needed then!  When I need to make some cards, I try to make a batch of the same design so that I can complete them in an assembly line fashion and then I always have some on hand.  The first one always takes some time, but once I am happy with the format, then the rest are quick and easy. 

Melisa Waldorf made this cute Thank You card that I think is adorable. I don't have the die cut machine to replicate her design exactly, but decided I could use this idea in a little simpler format

I needed a card for my son to send his thank you notes, and I didn't think that pink would go over too well, so I changed up the color and size a bit.  Melisa is much better at doing the fussy cut around the scotty dog than I am, so I left a small white border around my image.  Cutting out the scroll banner, not a problem, but the fuzzy edges of the dog's fur was too much for me! 

My daughter does love pink, but she chose a different stamp for her thank you cards, and followed the same basic format.

Everyone loves receiving a handmade Thank You card.  They don't have to be super complicated, and truthfully, it is what is written inside the card that really matters.

Nancy Grant made this cute little hello card, using some simple scalloped edge strips and some glitter alphas.  The little boy and girl are from our Little Red Wagon set.  I love that she took their face images and put them together.  Looks like they are good friends. 

Life is short and in our busy lives we need to take the time to connect with friends.  Nancy lost someone very special to her this last week, and we want to send her hugs and prayers.  Send someone a card today.  Call an old friend that you haven't talked with in a while. Just say hello. 

To all the Veterans in our lives, we say a huge Thank You on this Veteran's Holiday. 

Come Play with me!

Who could resist this adorable little doggie asking for a playdate?  Nancy Grant made this super sweet and simple card that is great for any occasion.  Nancy used the negative part of her scalloped edge as a new edge for this card.  (See this post here).  Using both edges is a bonus when punching or cutting out decorative trim. 

Fall Inspired Thank You Card

Melisa is back again today (see her other Thanks Dear card from the previous post), this time using the Silhouette Oh Dear Stamp set. 

Melisa's instructions:

Today I have a card to share that is perfect for fall. I used Pink Persimmons "Oh! Dear (Silhouette)" and a Kaleidacolor ink pad that creates a gradient of fall colors.

Create a cream card 4.25" x 5.5". Trim orange patterned paper slightly smaller and ink edges brown. Adhere to card front. Cut cream panel using Spellbinders Nestibilities Labels Eight. Ink edges and adhere to card front. Stamp sentiment.

Stamp tree on cream cardstock using Tsukineko's Kaleidacolor ink pad and trim. Stamp deer on cream cardstock with Tsukineko's Pearlescent Chocolate ink pad. Trim and adhere both tree and deer to card front. Tie ribbon (Offray double-sided ribbon - Joann's).

Thanks Dear Card

Here is a beautiful card created by Melisa Waldorf using our Oh Dear stamp set.

Here is Melisa's instructions on how she put the card together:

Hello Stampers! Today I am sharing a shaped card created using Pink Persimmon's "Oh! Dear ( Outline)" and Spellbinders Nestibilitites Labels Eight. Let's begin by creating the shaped card. Start with a 4" x 6" card folded on the side. Use the biggest die from the Labels Eight set and lay it over the card. The left side of the die should be off the side of the card, so that it doesn't cut the fold.(You'll be putting another die shape on top, so don't worry about the straight edge).

Cut your background patterned paper with the same die. Stamp tree with Momento Rich Cocoa on striped paper and script paper (My Mind's Eye "Sunshine" 6 x6 paper pad).

Tear the green paper creating grass, ink torn edge and adhere to bottom of striped paper. Cut tree trunk from tree stamped on script paper, add a little brown ink to add shadowing, and adhere to card front. Color leaves with Copic Markers (YG91, YG95). Stamp sentiment. Stamp deer on cardstock, color with markers and trim. Adhere to card front. Adhere birdhouse button (Dress It Up). Ink edges all the way around.

Part of the left side of the panel will hang over the card front. I covered the back of the panel along the left side with cream cardstock to finish it off, so you don't see another pattern on the backside. Adhere to card front.

Just calling to say.... Boo!

Andrea made this not too scary card with a combination of stamps that you would probably never choose for a halloween card. 

She used Flower Garden, Little Cuties, Carnival Alpha (small) (for BOO!)  and Vintage Girl (for the Just Calling To Say).  The pumpkins were created from the circle and stem image in Flower Garden, topped with a star from Little Cuties and then added the buttons.  Papers used was My Mind's Eye.

So Spooky!

Kristii used the Vintage Cupcake stamp to make a soft (and tasty) landing spot for this spooky spider.  She stamped the cupcake image on two different patterned papers, cut each one out and layered the cupcake wrapper on top of the orange polka pattern.
