Vintage Thank You Card

Lori Williams is a fan of Pink Persimmon and shared this beautiful card that she made.

 

Lori used our SweetHeart Silk Card and the Vintage Greetings stamp sets to make this card.  The colors that she chose are perfect together and I love how much texture she added to the card with all of the layers.

Perfumery Tag Tutorial

Kate Yetter from The Scrap Yard is back again with a new tag using the Perfumery stamp set.  I love how she added the late collars to the bottles after she cut them out.  See below for the step-by-step from Kate. 

Supplies:
Antiquated Collection: Perfumery Stamp Set
Antiquated Collection: Stylish and Fashionable Stamp Set (bird)
Archival Sepia Ink
Distress Inks: Rusty Hinge, Black Soot, Iced Spruce
3 1/8 X 6 ¼ white cardstock tag

Directions:

• Use Chevron stencil and ink on tag in black soot distress ink.  Dry with heat tool. Line up chevron pattern and spray with various colors of mists. In sepia ink, stamp over background with text stamps from perfumery collection.
• On plain cardstock stamp text stamp and set aside.
• Distress edges of tag with distress tool and ink edges with black soot distress ink.
• On plain cardstock, stamp in sepia ink and fussy cut both perfume bottles. On complementary pattern paper, stamp both perfume bottles and cut out just the labels from each bottle. Ink edges of labels and bottles in rusty hinge distress ink. Layer pattern paper labels on top of plain cardstock perfume bottle and glue. Add vintage lace and bling to perfume bottles.
• Stamp and cut out bird from Stylish and Fashionable Stamp set. Ink in Iced Spruce distress ink.
• Spray various vintage laces in mists.
• Cut Fleur-de-lis border from plain cardstock and mist. Cut Fleur-de-lis motif from script or plain paper.
• Layer laces and glue down to right side of tag. Adhere pop dots to fleur-de-lis border and layer over lace. Glue Fleur-de-lis motif to top right border.
• Angle Jubilee die cut on top left of tag and adhere. Glue flower to right of die cut careful not to cover the image or border. Add a piece of lace to top right corner of die cut if desired.
• Add pop dots to large perfume bottle and a double layer of pop dots to small perfume bottle. Layer small bottle slightly over larger bottle and adhere to tag. Add pop dots to bird and adhere to bottom of small perfume bottle.
• Cut and ink in Rusty Hinge a portion of the perfume text. Glue leftover lace to left edge of text and glue down to tag above perfume bottles. 

 

Fine and Dandy Tag Tutorial

We have been having so much fun with the Fine and Dandy stamp set around here!  Kate Yetter of The Scrap Yard made this tag using the stamp set.

Kate was nice enough to include some instructions on how she made this tag.

Supplies:
Antiquated Collection: Fine and Dandy Stamp Set
Archival ink: Sepia and Black
Distress inks: Iced Spruce, Festive Berries, Evergreen Bough, Rusty Hinge, Embossing Ink
3 1/8 X  6 ¼ inch white cardstock tag

Directions:

• Stamp in Sepia inkand fussy cut out the Gentleman, pocket watch, necktie and Fine and Dandy images from the stamp collection. Color in the images with the following distress inks.
  • Gentleman- iced spruce for his gown and festive berries for his necktie and skin toned marker for face and hands. Add silver stickles over swirl patterns in the dressing gown and allow to dry completely.
  • Pocket watch- rusty hinge; astamp hands and add copper brad to center of clock.
  • Necktie- festive berries and gold pen for metal tie tack
  • Fine and Dandy- ink edges with rusty hinge
• Cut seam binding to desired length for tie. Spritz with water and ink with iced spruce distress ink. Crumple into ball and dry with a heat tool.

• Stamp your border with embossing ink, add silver embossing powder and then heat until shiny. Fussy cut border.
• Blend together Evergreen Bough and Rusty Hinge distress inks on tag to create a background.  Stamp French Script in a random pattern over tag in black ink.
• Punch hole for ribbon tie in the top of the tag and add an eyelet.
• Glue embossed border on tag right under eyelet, centered.
• Place pop dots on back of Fine and Dandy text and adhere to embossed border  1/4th inch from the left. Adhere pop dots to necktie and place it to the right of the Fine and Dandy text with 1/4th inch space from end of the border.
• Glue pocket watch in lower right hand corner and layer the gentleman on top.
• Add gears, bling and beads in desired placement and tie ribbon onto top.

Vintage Jewelry

Shelley Haganman is currently making her own jewelry using photos but thought Lisa's vintage lady stamp from her "Antiquated Collection ~ Society Lady" would make for a great vintage charm. First, Shelley stamped the image from the "Society Lady" set and tinted it with walnut ink. Next she scanned the image and reduced it to the size of her glass piece which was 1" x 2". Shelley then placed Glossy Accents on the glass piece and attached it to the stamped image. Once the glossy accents was completely dry Shelley set the glass charm into the setting! Using a Fabric adhesive Shelley attached a piece of burlap to the back and hung the charm from a piece of velvet ribbon.


The canvas piece Shelley used stamps from "Society Lady" and "Stylish and Fashionable". She stamped both images on to old music paper and tinted it with walnut ink. Then Shelley used Glossy Accents on the bird and the center part of the scrolled piece. These accents finished off her project just the way she wanted!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Our friend Lisa Zappa sent us these images of the gift bags she made for Valentine's Day. 

Lisa found the treat bags from Target and doctored them up a bit using the Vintage Cupcake stamp set.  She decided to add a "gum drop" looking cherry on top using an oval punch and cutting it in half.  Holographic embossing powder on top of the cherry gives it a sparkly and sugary look.  Add a scalloped circle border, a felt heart and button and you have an adorable gift bag that is perfect for your Valentine treats.

Birthday Cake Decoration

Marion Ballog made sure that this birthday cake won't add any calories to your day!  This one is made of a styrofoam wedge shaped like the perfect slice of cake, then covered with vintage birthday wrapping paper, sheet music, glitter, and "icing " made of ribbon ruffles and pleated crepe paper.  

On top is a little chick and a flag stamped with "You take the cake", (Marian snipped the word "Cake" from the "(cup)cake" stamp in Sweet Greetings).  Cut the flag with a scalloped die (or use decorative scissors) and ink the edges.  The little flag is punched with 2 mini holes and flies from a frilly toothpick.  The little flag can be stamped with any Pink Persimmon sentiment to dress up real cakes too.  Or pancakes for a birthday breakfast! 

Guest Designer - Marian Ballog

Please welcome Marian Ballog to Pink Persimmon for the month of July.  She has been VERY busy with our stamps and has some great ideas to share with you.  Marian recently had a wedding in her family and was the hostess for a bridal shower.  She created a complete suite of items for her Pink & Black bridal shower that are all adorable.  The attention to detail is amazing.  Here's a sample of the invitation, but you need see the full tutorial to see ALL of the projects she made.  I am sure that the lucky bride-to-be had a great time at her shower!

Scottie Dog "Best Friend" Wall Plaque

Lisa Zappa found these great little alterable plaques at Dollar Tree ($1.00 each! Cheap!) and added patterned paper and Pink Persimmon Scottie Dogs with FUN FLOCK to create a wall-hanging for a pet-lover. Her sister's dog Kira volunteered to pose for the project.

Using Fun Flock on the Scottie images turns the doggies into adorable FURRY creatures!  What a great use for this fun new material. 

 Step 1 - Pick out a fun patterned paper, and then remove the ribbon handle from the plaque top. Turn your patterned paper over, and trace the plaque shape on the back of the paper. Cut it out and then adhere to the plaque front using Mod Podge.

 
Step 2 - You'll need Pink Persimmon Scottie Dogs, Black Fun Flock, Heat and Stick powder, and a black pigment ink (here we used Brilliance Graphite Black). Stamp various scottie dogs onto white cardstock.

 

Step 3 - Quickly dump the heat and stick powder onto the wet ink

 

Step 4 - Using a heat gun, heat up the heat and stick powder until it turns shiny & sticky.

 

Step 5 - Dump black fun flock onto the dogs, and with your hand, press the top of it so that the fibers adhere to the sticky image. Dump off the excess flock, and then take your heat gun and run it over the flock to 'set' the heat and stick powder.

 

Step 6 - Using coordinating patterned paper, stamp your scottie dogs again and cut out their cute patterned coats!

 

Step 7 - Adhere the outfits to the dogs, and BLING up their collars!

Sisters are special

I know that my sister is special.  I could tell you all kinds of great stories about my sister and the nice things she did for me when we were growing up.  We'll save those stories for later when I can dig up some old photos to go with them! 

Obviously Vicki Chrisman loves her sister too.  She made this very simple, but really nicely done layout about how much she appreciates her sister.  I love the little paper scraps that she stitched on the outside to make the border.  Adds the perfect amount of color to the kraft background. 

Vicki used the Dutch Journal Circle Stamp to add some text to her layout.  I hope you can read what she wrote, because it is something we should make sure that our loved ones know... how thankful we are to have them in our lives.

Now I am inspired to dig though all those old slides that my Dad took and find some great photos of my family when we were kids.
