What child doesn't love looking at their own little photo book of their family members? Lindsay came up with this cute mini book for her son, Casey. She used the Dutch Circle Journal stamp as the base of the book and the Wise Old Owl set for the title page "Whoo loves you?"
Here's how she put this together:
She stamped the Dutch Journal Circle on chipboard for the front and back cover of the album. Cut them out and then carefully stamped again on the back side. (Note: remember that this stamp fits perfectly in the Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Circle die, but it's not too hard to cut them out with a good pair of small scissors, it just takes a little more time).
Repeat this process on some double-sided patterned paper. Lindsay used Sassafrass Lass Serendipty on this project.
She then used Photoshop to create the circle pictures that are sized to fit the inside circle of the stamp (a 3" circle will work perfectly). Decide which side you want the pictures on and glue them to the patterned paper. Leave the other side blank for journaling.
Stamp the Wise Old Owl and "Whoo Loves You?" saying on cardstock, color and trim each piece. Glue to the front cover.
Take all the pieces to the copy store and have each page laminated. Each of the photos were printed on photo paper and came out fine from the lamination process. Trim each circle to the desired size. She then used a cropodile to cut two holes in each circle, being careful to punch the holes in approximately the same place on each circle.
Lindsay used jump rings to hold the pages together, but ribbon or book rings will work too.
You can add your journaling to the pages before you laminate if you would like, but Lindsay waited until the pages were laminated and used a permanent marker for the journaling. This way you can let your child carry the book around and when grandma & grandpa visit, they can add their own note in their handwriting.
Lindsay says "This album is totally Casey-Proof because of the laminating. He loves it and carries it all over while talking to it. It's pretty easy to put together. A little time consuming cutting things out, but well worth it in the end."
